Pack Information: I wanted to make backgrounds packs after falling in love with the idea of seeing the stadiums of all the national teams during the World Cup last year. I made my very first BG pack - which was not that good. To be honest, it sucked. To be fair, I didn't know what I was doing. Well, I do now - and this pack is the result of many, many hours of pic hunting (Wallis and Futuna Islands, people!) and figuring out how to rebuild the pack. I decided to include not just the main stadium, but every stadium that Football Manager assigns to the editor tags "All Matches" and "Major Matches" - which creates a massive roster of stadiums for this pack. Obviously, we all know that Spain and Germany use rotating stadiums for their matches. I wanted everything, so they are in this pack. As you may know, I set my BG packs to show on both "matchdays" and on the "team screen" (you can change that, though), so that leads to an issue...
...how do I go about choosing a "team screen" background for nations that use multiple stadiums? (by the way, 64 nations use more than one stadium) Well, I went with several different things: the "national" stadium, the best shot, the most famous stadium, a club-team neutral stadium, uniqueness, etc. I basically went through all of the pics for every stadium, and choose the best fit for that nation. Take Germany - using the criteria that I had, Germany has 13 stadiums in this pack. I could have chosen the most famous (Veltians, Commerzbank, Signal Iduna), but these stadiums are so identified with their respective club teams that I wanted something different. I chose to use Olympiastadion, as it is a bit more national focused and does not have that immediate "I know that stadium" feel to it. Now, conversly, for Spain, which has 8 stadiums, I chose Santiago Bernabeu. Why, because it is the home of Spanish Football. Yes, yes - "but Barca play there", but the thing is, when you close your eyes and see the Spanish National team - you see them playing in Santiago Bernabeu. That's why I chose it.
Credits: Anyways, this release is a solo effort, but thanks must be made to my boy kumquat_s, who pumped out some of the pics for the European nations. Also, it cannot be said enough, big ups to the lads of FM-View. They always go above and beyond in assisting me with hunting down new UID's, random questions and what-not's. They really are the best blokes in the business, and it wouldn't hurt to spend some time here at FM-View to realize how good these folks really are.
For the record, if you did download my original release, feel free to delete that. It sucks. Try this one - all-new shots, better images, bolder colors, etc. It's just better.
